We are Christians who live with a mental illness and/or who are qualified by training within mental health services. The ministry is part of the service and mission of Darlington Baptist Church to the local and wider Church and community.
We came together to provide support to Christians living with a mental health problem, who are either disconnected from church community or are at the margins of one. We started the first of our small discipleship groups at Darlington Baptist Church where people can – Love God – Love People and Live Life, with the encouragement of their peers and the family of God.
Our group has grown and attracted Christians from other denominations (who are encouraged to continue worshipping and playing a full part in their home church) as well as those who have re-connected with church or are new believers.
Our experience at Darlington Baptist Church is that broomtree has been a blessing as people encounter one another and grow in the likeness of Jesus, those with a mental illness are being welcomed into the body of Christ and are now using their talents and spiritual gifts in church life.
We believe that there is a positive role for the Church to play in the support of those with mental health problems and we pledge to support churches in seeking to become Friendly Places, by Educating, Equipping and Encouraging.
If you would like to come to one of our meetings, we meet at Darlington Baptist Church, Grange Rd, Darlington, every Monday (except bank holidays) from 11 am till 12:30 pm.
